In late August 2002, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers was announced for the Game Boy Advance, to be released in November of that year. This port was developed by Griptonite Games, a company specializing in Game Boy Advance remakes of PlayStation 2 games.

For the PC version, the main screen was altered from the square one used for the console version to one closer to the original arrangement of the console version. New controls were also included. The game features a new look for Legolas and a few additional maps for Aragorn. Two of the twelve paralogs also appear in the PC version; Gimli is playable after all three characters have been unlocked. The Story Mode was expanded to twelve missions, each longer than those in the console version, while the Stablemaster Mode was decreased from 12 missions to 9.

The PC version includes a number of extra features, including a New Game+ that allows players to continue past level 5, unlock all 12 characters, and advance the storyline. The game also offers support for mouse and keyboard, and an extensive help manual from the developers, with sections on the game's characters and story.[2][3]
